I for sure agree with your article! This is very true in both friendships and relationships.

If you don't have the same values, it just cannot work in the end. I ended a toxic friendship because I felt we didn't have the same values, particularly respect and honesty. And, I would have most likely left my current relationship had he held the same values that he did 4+ years ago. He's different now but sometimes the things he's told me about his past identity worries me. All that matters is we have the same values now.
