I never use Google Docs because of this kind of issue with using it offline.

Worst story for me? I had just finished a 150-page novella I was trying to get published (9 years ago) and a tiny bottle of eye drops exploded all over my laptop destroying that story and several saved scholarship essays. I sobbed for days.
