I saw on a Ted Talk the other day too that in order to increase our attention span, we must lock ourselves away from ALL technology and focus on reading something very dull, something that wouldn't normally have our interest. We start with 5 minutes and gradually build up to an hour. If we find ourselves distracted or drifting off, then we need to stop and see how much time it took before we drifted off (45 seconds for me) and start again later on. The guy apparently was able to get his attention span to 45 minutes with no distractions. I'd love to get to that point myself.
