This part is true. The message of the film was not subtle or intertwined neatly in character scenes. The message and running themes are banged over your head incessantly, in the midst of comedy and schizo-like scene jumps. A radio host had made a joke about it on the radio and in a low-pitched neanderthal-like voice summed it up to: Accept gay daughter, good. Reject gay daughter, bad.
